Coming Soon: The Dig

Coming Soon: The Dig

An archaeological experience of the holy land in North Alabama.

Just south of the Huntsville Speedway
Huntsville, AL 35803

The purpose of “The Dig” is to provide a local teaching experience for people of all ages to discover from archaeology God as the creator of our history, present and future and we have an important purpose and place in our time.

The Dig is an educational interactive adventure at a specific site location for ‘diggers’ to come and work together as ‘archaeologists’ in one of six periods of history where they will uncover historical artifacts from ancient times.

The site’s design contains six separate areas each representing different time periods. Its construction is patterned from an ancient ‘tell’ with several strata layers. From the discoveries we will be able to teach history, science, language, mathematics, arts, and cultures from our past.

The individual dig cells will be supplied with artifacts buried for the ‘diggers’ to discover. Each cell will have a different theme. One will always have artifacts from Biblical Israel, one from the Paleolithic Period. Others will change from time periods to cultures such as Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Babylonian, Mayan, China, Europe, American Civil War and many others.

As ‘Diggers” arrive, each team member will be introduced to all the three areas of the site to work, The Dig Site, The Sifting Site, and the Research Site. Then each person can work as a part of the team to work in their assigned area. Each “dig” site can accommodate up to 24 people and multiple sites can be used simultaneously to accommodate more.

All tools will be provided for the teams including survey, building grids, digging, excavating, sifting, reconstruction, computers for research, and materials for preservation.

Some items to discover; coins, bones, manuscripts, stone tablets, precious stones, pottery, primitive tools, metals, statues, scarabs, jewelry, and an endless amount of teaching items.

Items discovered by the ‘diggers’ will be available for purchase.

There will be a cost per site for any size group.
